Western Sahara is the last colony in Africa. It is still in the UN list of Non-Self-Governing territories pending a UN process of decolonization. The occupying force, Morocco, is committing gross human rights violations according to all international human rights organizations.
One of the main phenomenon has always been the forced disappearance. Thousands of Saharawi people have been victims. Some of them for more than 16 years before they were released. More than 551 are still reported missing.
Morocco always denied the existence of the victims of disappearance in its secret prisons. But in 1991 the Moroccan authorities suddenly released 321 Saharawi disappeared.
In 2010, the Moroccan Consultative Royal Council for Human Rights published a report on internet without any publicity, and without informing the families of the victims. This Moroccan official body recognized that the Moroccan army and security killed 353 Saharawi disappeared during their secret detention. The father of Mrs. Mettou Mustapha is one of them.
