Maruda - Psy-factor - StNoiz - Musical Pilgrimage -split-
Monday, 3 March 2014
Rest in Peace by Psy-factor is a schreeching noise droning soundcape, penciled over the lifeless remains of some desolated land. Its post-apocalyptic feel is quite troublesome, but not nearly as much as the contribution of StNoiz: a disturbing mantra of retro feel emerging over and over from waves of gritty and droning noises, only to drown in it again every single time. This provokes in me some radical unsettlement and turns out to be in clear contrast with the first minutes of near silence offered by Tribal Galactique, the track by Maruda. It's not too long before noisy structures start do develop, leaving the bizarre shyness of the first noise hits behind and evolving in a cinematic sounscape, underpinned partly by mechanical rhythms, fractured eventually by an abrupt break that plunges the piece back to near silence and more subtle arts of noise disturbances.
The three diverse approaches to noise as a sonic creative element make this three-way split release a very intriguing listen to noise adepts. Everyone else do not need apply.
